Act Fast – Update Google Chrome to Avoid Being Hacked

March 11, 2019

Use Google Chrome? Chances are you do, with 65% of all computers accessing the web via the Google web browser.

If your chrome keeps asking you to upgrade then don’t delay – the latest version of the software includes a fix for a security vulnerability (CVE-2019-5786). This can potentially be exploited by malicious websites to take control of the browser and start to install and run malware, spyware, ransomware and other viruses on your machine.

How Do I Update?

Making sure you’re on the right version of chrome is easy, just follow these steps:

  • Open chrome, and click on the 3-dots icon on the top right of the window
  • Click on the settings option
  • Next, click the 3-bar icon at the top left of the screen and click about chrome
  • If your chrome is out-of-date, there will be a button asking you to relaunch – click this and Google Chrome will now update to the correct version
